Firefox

By default Firefox will save the file, moleminder.jar, to your Desktop directory. If you have changed this setting to another location, once the download has completed, open the File Explorer, navigate to the directory where the moleminder.jar was downloaded. Then move the moleminder.jar to your desktop. If you are prompted for the download location, navigate to your Desktop directory which is normally in your Home directory. Double click the moleminder.jar icon on your desktop and the MoleMinder application will start. If something different happens, try right-click; open with and select a "JDK" entry.

Internet Explorer

When you click on the download link you will be presented with a dialog like ...

This is the Vista dialog, other windows versions will present a similar dialog. Click on save and you will get the SaveAS dialog which will allow you to save the moleminder.jar to a specific location. Navigate to your Desktop ...

and click Save.
